    1. Jadoh

Jadoh is one of the most famous foods of Meghalaya; it is appetizing, nutritionally rich, and has a unique color. This recipe involves cooking rice with chicken, fish, or pork, and for added flavor, green chilies, onions, ginger, turmeric, bay leaves, and black pepper are added. First, the pork or chicken is marinated in a mixture of spices and then cooked until perfectly tender. After it, the meat is combined with the rice and spices, creating a flavorful blend.

    2. Pumaloi

Pumaloi is the Meghalayan version of pulao and is steamed with aromatic spices. If you have not tried this while in Meghalaya tourism, then you have not tried anything. It's the ideal dish for people who enjoy milky but flavorful foods. It is one of Meghalaya's most well-known dishes that demonstrates how basic ingredients, like rice, can be combined to create something special. "Pumaloi" refers to powdered rice.

This powder is steamed and cooked in a special pot known as a Khiew Ranei. Along with the appropriate amount of water, it is cooked on medium heat. Usually, pumaloi is served either warm or cold. It is best served with chutney or curry on the side.

    3. Minil Songa

Minil Songa is a traditional dish of Meghalaya that highlights the region’s unique flavors and cooking methods. This unusual traditional Meghalayan dish consists of sticky rice combined with fresh herbs like coriander and lemongrass and spices like ginger, turmeric, and chilies. This meal is made by carefully packing the rice mixture inside bamboo tubes, which are steamed. The bamboo adds a mild smoky taste and pleasant flavour to the rice, resulting in a truly memorable and savoury dish that captures the essence of Meghalayan cuisine.

    4. Nakham Bitchi

Nakham Bitchi is at the top spot in the list of famous foods of Meghalaya. This is a must-try food to try in your Meghalaya tour package. It is a delicious soup that will satisfy your foodie soul. This delicacy is a non-vegetarian food of Meghalaya and is made of dry fish with vegetables. This traditional soup features sun-dried or fire-dried fish, simmered with vegetables to create a rich, thick broth, and lots of spicy chillies and pepper are added to enhance the taste and add tanginess to the dish.

    5. Doh Khlieh

Doh Khlieh is a light, cooling salad composed of clean herbs, onions, and pork. Among Meghalaya's many well-known dishes, this one stands out as a healthier choice, demonstrating the region's versatile ingredients. It is perfect for people who want to experience Meghalaya's well-known cuisine while keeping things light.

    6. Pudoh

Pudoh is similar to Pumaloi but with a twist. Imagine tender pork pieces mingling with powdered rice—yes, you read it right. When this mixture of rice dust and tender pork is steam-cooked, the rich flavour of the pork seeps into each grain of rice, creating a magical combination. It is best served with the curry sauce, which can be made with coconut milk or from sautéed onions, garlic, tomatoes, and spices.

    7. Pukhlein

Pukhlein is a delicious sweet delicacy that is only created during the Wangala Festival. PuKlein is one of Meghalaya's best vegetarian dishes and is made with just two ingredients: jaggery and rice powder. This dish is best enjoyed with a steaming hot cup of tea or coffee and is an ideal evening or post-meal snack, which is a must-include in your Meghalaya trip package.

    8. Kyat

Kyat, a fermented rice beer, is a popular celebration beverage in Meghalaya. For preparation, the ingredients are boiled in water, which enhances their distinct flavor. 2. Choose the Right Footwear: Trails to root bridges and caves are often muddy and slick. Wear strong, grippy shoes to avoid slips.
    3. Plan and Book Ahead: Popular spots like Cherrapunji fill up quickly from October to April. Reserve rooms early for clean, affordable stays.
